Vigilance, the first city owned sculpture in 25 years, stands tall and proud next to the Court Street fire station. The monument was first envisioned by former mayor Evelyn Sirrell and honors the heroism and sacrifice of our firefighters who have served both past and present. Emile Birch’s design was selected in 2007 after a competitive process.  He is well known in NH communities for his large sculptures that are located around the state.  The statue consists of two 400-pound bronze firefighters, approximately 6,000 bricks and 600 gallons of water which flow through the base.
