Created by Cabot Lyford in 1975, My Mother, The Wind sits at the end of the jetty at Four Tree Island. An inscription on the base states “For those who sailed here to find a new life.” Cabot Lyford’s work can be found in many museums around the United States and his large public art works are known throughout New England. The artist gains much of his inspiration from nature and the female human form and he is still at work into his eighties.
