In 2011 Temple Israel commissioned local artist and member of their community, Sumner Winebaum, to create the sculpture Hands of Hope. The sculpture is made of bronze while the base is granite with the word “HOPE” inscribed on the front. It is located in the temple courtyard year-round and for the 8 nights of Hanukkah will grasp candleholders for the menorah. The sculpture will represent the light the Hanukkah brings in the depth of winter.
